My initial thoughts after clicking around the site a bit...

The first reason is that the feature walkthrough doesn't describe the process by which I choose the keyword for an ad. The second is that Q Ads could fold tomorrow, and there would be broken image links scattered all over the place.

I often use Qumana to update my blog but i've always found it a bit of a hit miss affair to be able to get ads that fit my post even experimenting with different keywords and instead end up with something unrelated to what i am wanting. What would work better for me is the greater control over what ads i want, whether that includes in my Q-ads account being able to browse and pick out certain ads that i want to be able to choose that relates most to the likely content of posts

Other other reason is that while my pc is not the best, i find that Qumana can sometimes tend to be more of a memory hog than equivalent programs and so if i know exactly what i want to say i often tend to use them even though i prefer Qumana

It seems to me that the pool of advertisers isn't large enough yet to make it possible to generate ads that are going to fit the keywords more than a small fraction of the time.

That was an issue for me, but a more important issue is that I couldn't create a default setting for the appearance of the ads. I wanted the colours to match the colour scheme on my blog, but I couldn't save those settings. So every single time I wanted to put in an ad, I'd have to create the settings all over again. Frustrating!

If that were fixed, I'd likely go back to using the ads. I encourage you to generate a bigger pool of advertisers, though; I kept seeing the same ads popping up randomly whenever I'd pick a keyword that there wasn't a match for. They got old fast.

And, after a few weeks of posting ads in every post I created--several a day on my blog--I had only two clicks. I get a decent amount of traffic, so it's not that nobody was seeing them. Just, not enough interesting variety of ads.

As a blog editor, I think Qumana is great--except of course for the bug that doesn't allow you to drag images within a post (that happened again just now; I can never remember in time). The damn thing freezes up and I lose everything. I'm looking forward to the next version with bug fixes!

Wow, this is awesome. These are exactly the comments I was hoping for. I apreciate your condor, honesty, and feedback.

Okay so here go my responses.

Inventory is our number one issue right now. We know that you need a better selection of ads to put in your blogs. Heck I do too! Believe me, we're having lots of sleepless nights trying to do this.

Okay ... now for some individual responses.

Roger ... can't make any guarentees about longevity, but we're in this for the long haul. That's about all I can say on that. But, I do appreciate your feedback about the site content isn't helping you use Q Ads effectively. Duly noted.

Greg ... I like the idea of giving you more control over the kinds of ads you are served. I like it a lot. Yeah we know that Q has had its memory issues. I'm told that the next beta release due not next week has fixed a number of memory leaks. Stay tuned.

Phoenix ... Good suggestion on saving ad settings. I can imagine how annoying that would be. Good thing I'm just lazy and take the default colours ;). We are also working on the image dragging bug. As a workaround (and one I use all the time) try cut and paste. It gets around the bug, even if it is a little more difficult.

Again, thank you for taking the time to tell me the stuff we need to hear to make Q Ads better. I didn't write the post as some self-serving ploy, I wrote it to hear directly from you. I hope more people comment and maybe that magic idea might come from one of you.

Tris: For me, the answer is simple. I don't have any ads on the blog because I haven't refreshed my agreement with my employer. We have a requirement that we notify them of money-making work we do on the side, and I just haven't got around to it.

For that same reason, I haven't even looked at the ad side of Qumana.

yes the Image Bug was my first concern. the poor ad selection was # 2. & the 3rd is the difficulty in driving the Traffic required to my Blog & everybody's Blog to get click thrus & generate $$$.

i would love to see some profiles on successful Qumana Bloggers!

Eric Giguere has written some excellent advice at his blog http://www.memwg.com which not only applies to AdSense but even those of us looking at other options like Qumana to (god forbid ;) monetize our Blogs.
