As I was playing with Pandora, IMing with Jim, and another friend (not blogging, yet ... I know the horror) I saw ping up on my GDS2 Web Clips this announcement from Michael on TechCrunch—TechCrunch » Technorati Releases Major New Feature—and Josh posting on BBC—Business Blog Consulting- Technorati Launches Blog Finder.  Two things here.  One is that the Technorati announcement is cool, but cooler is the fact that I could react to this news faster than before because GDS2 is tracking these sites for me.  A little digging and I found Niall's post (makes sense, eh?)

Blog Finder by TechnoratiOkay Blog Finder.  This feature lets you browse through blogs by genre, essentially.  Here is an example on my favourite topic—Technorati Blog Finder- professional blogging—oh yeah, I'm number one in authority.  Why it says this both hasn't been updated for 141 days, I have no idea.  Regardless, while Michael thinks it needs more tweaking and work, I think it has a lot of potential.  The tweaking is going to come from blog owners tagging and describing them and their blogs.  For example, I don't think we've claimed the Qumana Blog yet.  Maybe as CBO, I should.  This is the next step in helping people finding blogs on topics they are interested in not blogs.  Here's a good example.  I write for Biopeer.com so I'm always looking for good blog covering bio-science and research.  I've done some quick searches on biotech, biology, and science, and nothing leaped out at me, well except another blog I need to work on claiming.

So is Blog Finder perfect?  Nope.  Blog Ads by ChitikaWe need to all claim our blogs, tag/describe our blogs, and Technorati really has to work on their database.  This blog has been updated way more that in the last 141 days!

Baby steps.  Baby steps.
